The Intimate Hagadone Event Center Wedding That Felt Anything but Small

There is something pretty special about asking your closest people to hop on a plane, travel somewhere most of them have never heard of, and celebrate your wedding with you on a Thursday. That is exactly what Annie and Cannon did.

With just under 50 of their closest friends and family, they made their way to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho for a beautiful May wedding at the Hagadone Event Center. And the Pacific Northwest absolutely understood the assignment.

A Destination Wedding in Coeur d’Alene

For most of Annie and Cannon’s guests, Coeur d’Alene was completely new territory. In fact, Annie herself had only seen the venue in person once before their wedding!

Cannon, on the other hand, was a little more familiar with North Idaho thanks to various trips to enjoy our local wildlife (aka… hunting). Somewhere along the way, he fell in love with the area, and eventually it became the place where they would bring their favorite people together to get married.

And I am SO glad it did. Because if you are going to convince nearly 50 people to travel to Idaho for a Thursday wedding, you really hope Idaho shows off for them. In my very bias opinion, I think she absolutely did!

The Perfect May Day on Lake Coeur d’Alene

Mid-May in the Inland Northwest can sometimes keep us on our toes, but Annie and Cannon could not have asked for a more beautiful day.

Blue skies. Sunshine. The lake doing its thing in the background. Everything was green and fresh, and their ceremony overlooking Lake Coeur d’Alene was about as PNW as you can get. Their guests got to experience exactly why this little corner of the world is so easy to fall in love with.

And many of them weren’t quite ready to head home when the wedding was over! Several guests extended their trips afterward, continuing east toward Montana or heading west to explore Seattle. Honestly, that is one of my favorite parts about a destination wedding. The wedding itself becomes the reason everyone gathers, but the experience can become so much bigger than just one day.

Sage, White Florals & an Elevated Garden Feel

The design for Annie and Cannon’s wedding felt completely at home in the space.

We incorporated soft sage accents throughout the day alongside lots of white roses and baby’s breath. The combination felt warm and inviting without losing that elevated, intentional feel.

Gold details and dark wood chairs added a little extra warmth to the reception tables, while soft beige linens and sage napkins tied everything together. It was romantic, clean and elegant while still feeling approachable. Having everything surround a wood & white checkered dance floor in the middle was perfect for such an intimate celebration.

With fewer than 50 guests, every detail also had a chance to really be noticed.

Champagne Towers, Photo Walls & a Dress Change… Oh my!

And speaking of details… Annie and Cannon did not skip the fun ones.

A champagne tower kicked off the celebration, a floral photo wall gave guests the perfect backdrop throughout the evening, and Annie surprised everyone with a dress change later in the night.

It was proof that an intimate wedding does not have to mean a simple wedding.

When your guest count is smaller, you have the opportunity to pour your energy into the experience you are creating for the people who are there. Annie and Cannon did exactly that. The day felt thoughtful without feeling overly formal, and elevated without losing the fun.

An Intimate Wedding Worth Traveling For

There is sometimes this idea that weddings have to happen on a Saturday, or that destination weddings have to involve somewhere tropical or halfway across the world.

They don’t.

Sometimes a destination wedding looks like bringing 50 of your favorite humans to a Resort town in North Idaho that most of them couldn’t have pointed to on a map before receiving your invitation. Sometimes it happens on a Thursday. And sometimes those decisions are exactly what make the entire experience feel even more special.

Annie and Cannon trusted their people to show up for them, trusted Coeur d’Alene to give them a pretty incredible backdrop, and created a wedding that felt completely like them.

It also helps that these two just so happen to be two of the sweetest, most deserving people ever. Getting to be a small part of bringing this day together for them was an absolute joy.

Annie + Cannon, I hope every time you look back at these photos you remember just how freaking beautiful this day was, and how many people happily traveled all the way up to the PNW, just to celebrate the two of you.
