This is a story rooted in true love, resilience, and family support. Erin & Jake contacted me just four short weeks before their big day. They were hoping to get married in Bend, Oregon with 200 of their favorite people, but unfortunately, as we have seen too many times in 2020, that was not in the cards for them. However, these two did not want to wait to get married any longer than they already had, so they were going to make lemonade out of lemons, dang it! Since Jake’s family resides in Coeur d’Alene (and Idaho was the best option for weddings at the time) they decided that instead of postponing they were going to make the best of a very unexpected situation. They found the perfect little AirBnB right on Harbor Island that could easily accommodate 30 of their closest family and friends to celebrate their love. However, with them not living in the area and not wanting to put too much stress on Jake’s parents they contracted with me to help find some necessary local vendors and to manage their big day.
I was able to meet with Erin once in person before the wedding day to see the venue and go over layout because we essentially had to create intimate ceremony and reception spaces out of a rented backyard. We brought in beautiful farm tables and benches from Patina Rentals, rented lights, a dance floor and a sound system from A to Z Rentals and Jake’s parents made a beautiful arbor that framed the water perfectly. I don’t typically play the role of florist, but Erin brought most of the floral over with her from the florist she hired in Oregon and ordered the rest from Costco, so I happily pieced everything together once I got onsite. For food, Mangia came in hot with some delicious wood fired pizza and Jake’s sister made the cutest Funfetti cake for dessert because when Funfetti is your favorite why not serve it at your wedding! All of the amazing photos were done by Sydnee Marie Photography who graciously traveled up from California as well as the amazing hair and make-up team who traveled over from Oregon. Since the guest list had to be drastically cut down, Erin & Jake decided they wanted to bring in a videography team so everyone back home could have the chance to experience their beautiful day. Corey and Steph with Menhart Films stepped in and produced something they will be able to look back on and watch over and over.
Due to the size of the AirBnB, almost the entire bridal party was able to stay in the house making for a very memorable and fun wedding weekend. And even with all the hustle and bustle of everyone sharing spaces, Erin & Jake were still able to pull off one of the sweetest first looks I’ve ever seen. The day of their wedding everything fell into place so seamlessly… the weather was absolutely gorgeous, everyone was having a great time from beginning to end, the décor was stunning and the venue was a perfect fit. It may not have been their plan A, but it was certainly a very special day that they will look back on and cherish forever. A true testament that when two people are meant to be together, no matter what challenges are placed in front of them, their love will prevail, and they will all live… happily ever after!
