August Wedding Overlooking Coeur d’Alene Lake

Holy cow! My very last blog for 2021. I feel like it all went by so quickly this year. It was fun, albeit crazy busy! And as my last blog of the year, it is my extreme pleasure, as always, to feature another wonderful wedding celebration from this summer.

Sarah and I started working together from the beginning of her planning journey. Over the course of just a year and one month we pieced together a wedding that was beautifully unique to Sarah and Scott’s relationship. As I hear with so many couples who I work with, Sarah had never planned a wedding before, and on top of it she is not originally from here, so she was not even sure where to start. Da-da-da-DAA, Sydney the wedding planner to the rescue! First, we started with the priorities for their wedding day. For them this was hiring a wedding planner (HOLLA!), hosting at a stunning venue, providing plenty of guest entertainment.

After I came on board, of course, we first started with the venue and date, after looking at 3 or 4 different venues they both fell in love with Elk Point – and I mean just look at the photos below, who doesn’t love the view from the top of the world?! At the time, the calendar was starting to show what the crazy 2021 wedding boom was going to look like, so there were only a few dates to choose from. They easily settled on an available date in August. Then came the fun part – piecing together the perfect wedding vendor team for her vision (keep in mind, Elk Point wedding packages include basic rentals, catering, bar & DJ services, so all of that was already checked off our list). After describing her vision and what editing style she was drawn to, picking Hannah and Robby, of Hannah Smith Design, as the photography team was a breeze. Check! Next came the florals. Sarah and Scott did not have a formal bridal party, so the biggest floral pieces she wanted to focus on were her bouquet and an arbor piece. Rebecca, of Rebecca Rollins Floral Design, accomplished that and so much more! My jaw quite literally hit the floor when Becca arrived at the venue with Sarah’s bouquet – what a showstopper! The textures, colors, and movement of all the flowers Rebecca incorporated was incredible. This folks is why you hire the professionals!

As mentioned, the other priority for Sarah and Scott was entertainment for their guests. It was important to them that everyone was sufficiently celebrating and having a good time. But we also had to keep in mind that there would many kids in attendance, so it also had to be something that appealed to them too. We toyed back and forth for I don’t even know how long about whether it would be better to have a balloon twister or a face painter – what a dilemma right?! Ultimately, we let Drew, Scott’s little girl, decide and after much contemplation (as much as a 5-year-old can muster) she decided on the face painter. Let me tell you – best decision ever! We used All Star Jump and the face painter who they sent was awesome. She was sweet, professional, punctual, and a really good artist. She didn’t even care when it started raining – the show must go on! Not only did the kids take part in this activity, but I even saw a few adults with some on-point face pieces dancing the night away.

Naturally, we also brought a photobooth on board because who doesn’t love funny photos to look back on, but that can also double as a perfect guestbook. Electric Photoland Photobooth is always a winner company to work with in my book! They have awesome backdrops to choose from and have the perfect personalities to keep guest coming back for more photos. I mean, who doesn’t want to take pictures with giant crab claw hands on?!

It was such an honor to help Sarah & Scott plan their beautiful wedding day. Even though it rained, we squeezed out both the ceremony and dinner outside, so I call that as close to perfection as possible. One of the sweet joys of social media is that I am lucky enough to be able to continue to follow along with so many clients’ lives as they go through their next great adventure together. Sarah and I still briefly chat here and there through Instagram stories and I love it. It’s things like this that bring me so much happiness because there are so many times where the end of an event means the end of that planner-client relationships altogether. But alas, that is the nature of the wedding industry, isn’t it?

I can’t believe I am signing off for the last time this year already. Next time I speak with a lot of you it will be 2022. Let’s make it a great year!
