Do you look outside in the winter, when the snow is slowly falling and dusting the ground and think… Wow, this is the time of year I want to marry my forever? I love myself a good winter wedding, but with the snow and cold come different logistics and things to consider. However, this blog is not about that. If you are still in the consideration phase of whether or not you want to host your wedding in the winter, then head on over to my blog all about 10 Things to Consider When Planning a Winter Wedding in the Inland Northwest. Today, I want to talk more about the fun stuff. You have already decided winter is the season of marriage for you, but now you need to decide where to host this special day. Keep reading for a list of my 5 favorite winter wedding venues here in the Inland Northwest (in no special order, necessarily)…
Elkins Resort or Hill’s Resort – Both of these resorts are up in the Priest Lake area. Similar vibes, different parts of the lake. If you are looking for a cozy cabin feel with pristine water views and the option of a (quick) outdoor ceremony, then these are definitely venues to consider! With onsite lodging and catering it makes the planning process seamless and enjoyable for all your guests traveling in.
The Davenport Properties – The Historic Davenport & The Centennial Hotel are both winners when it comes to indoor, romantic, old world style weddings. The Historic Davenport with multiple ballroom options, a giant Christmas tree gracing the center of the lobby during the month of December and an overall warm and inviting atmosphere will transport your guests and make them forget all about any frigid temperatures we may be experiencing outside. And the Centennial Hotel’s Skyline ballroom with 360 views of Spokane will allow you to enjoy everything that Jack Frost has to offer the Inland Northwest in the winter without leaving the comfort of a modern and intimate feeling ballroom.
Riverside Place – The building in the center of downtown Spokane with more fantastic ballroom options than you will know what to do with. Start with The Falls Penthouse that has a balcony spanning the width of the room overlooking the Spokane River, and with the stunning and unique black floors then see if you even need to view any of the other rooms. With so many customizable ways you can transform this one space, you will no doubt be able to create the winter wedding you’ve always dreamed of. Not to mention the spectacular onsite caterer that is an option with any event hosted at Riverside Place.
Hagadone Event Center – Two stunning fireplaces, full glass windows overlooking Lake Coeur d’Alene and accommodations for all your guests make the Hagadone Event Center (HEC) a great option to consider when planning your winter wedding. Run by the CdA Resort, guests get to enjoy all the amenities of one of the nicest resorts in North Idaho (think heated outdoor igloos and thousands of Christmas lights spanning the entire boardwalk), and you get to host one unforgettable weekend.
Winter weddings are different than summer weddings. And there is a special kind of magic in the air when snow is on the ground, the fireplace is lit, and you need a little boozy apple cider to keep you warm. Winter weddings also tend to be more intimate – not always, but sometimes because it is not as easy to travel in winter conditions and it is the time of year when folks tend to hunker down at home a bit more. However, intimate weddings also have their own pros – no matter the time of year. Something I would love to discuss as part of any of my wedding planning packages!
