I know I say this about a lot of weddings, but I am seriously over the moon excited to finally be sitting down and sharing a blog post about this wedding… eeehhh!!! *hand clapping motion*
There is so much I want to say and share about Anna and Sam’s perfect May wedding. I hope I am able to convey my emotions properly in words and make it clear how much this couple & this wedding meant to me. Being their wedding planner was such an honor and I am still reeling that they trusted me to be part of such an important milestone in their lives. This planning journey challenged me in new ways, to think outside the box sometimes, and experience a new culture of traditions that was super fun to learn about and witness. With that, let’s just dive right into the meat of it.
Anna came to me with a plan, but not a plan. Classic, right? She had this elaborate vision of what she wanted her wedding day to look like in her head, but when it came to the execution and bringing it all together, she wanted someone else to take care of that part. I mean, being a med student on top of planning a wedding – you only have so much head space for all the things! So, my task was translating her various words & photos on a Pinterest board into a cohesive design plan. Next we needed to find the perfect vendors to bring that design plan to life. In no reality is planning a wedding a one-person show. Never would I be able to do my job as well as I do without the other vendors filling in the gaps with their amazing crafts. But finding those matches for my couples is absolutely one of my favorite things to do. I could go on and on about properly matching vendors to clients and my process for that, but that is a blog for another day. However, at the core, when ideal vendors work with ideal clients the end result is pure magic – and that is my ultimate goal for all my couples.
During my initial design meeting with Anna and Sam we went over everything – and I mean everything. It was a long meeting, okay. My goal with those meetings is to get to know the couple, their priorities, their vision, their personalities, their relationship. That is what is going to help me craft a successful vendor team & overall design plan. When they described what and how they wanted their photography to be conveyed, I said “look no further, here is your girl” and behold after one conversation they had an immediate connection with Jaime of Jaime Denise Photography. I mean, look at these photos – can you blame them?! Anna described to me the story she wanted her florals to tell and how she wanted the colors & textures to play off each other, BOOM, I showed her Desiree with Adelaide Floral’s Instagram profile, and she said that is EXACTLY what I want. Me too, girl, me too! The process was the same, all the way down to the photo booth & the wedding dress shop that I knew would help them achieve the exact look that they were hoping to accomplish!
The entirety of their planning process was fun and collaborative. They trusted me to bring their visions and ideas to life, and I trusted them to communicate with me when questions and new ideas arose. It was a great client & planner balance. During our last meeting I remember being happy and extremely sad all at the same time. I was so happy that they were FINALLY going to be married and start a new, beautiful chapter in their lives, but I was also a little sad that our working relationship would be ending soon. Ultimately, their wedding day was filled with so much love. So many intimate, special, and unique moments, and will definitely be a wedding I never forget. I will always cherish my brief role in their lives and the opportunity to have been part of such a big milestone for them. Their chosen day in May was perfect. The weather was lovely (although I could have done without the wind during set up, but what are you going to do), the people were so friendly and inviting, and the vendor team was on top of their game! As I do all my wonderful couples, I wish Anna & Sam the absolute best on their marital journey!!
